5 - 7pm this evening is our First Fun Run!! Earlier this week we visited classrooms to share more info about our first Fun Run with students. Here are 5 Important Things To Know:
1) The FUN RUN is FREE - to participate, you just need to be a Shelton View student & be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
2) Get Prizes For Showing Up - We Want Our Students To Enjoy A Fun, After-School Event Together! Students receive a prize when they arrive, they receive bracelet bands for EVERY lap they run AND they receive a prize when they finish... ICE CREAM for all students who Jump The Shark at the end. :)
3) This IS a Fundraiser - participating is free. We do ask that students work to raise $$ by asking friends, families & neighbors to sponsor their participation in the Fun Run. On average, students typically raise between $75-100. Our schoolwide goal is $15,000 & ALL the money goes BACK TO THE STUDENTS through activities, special events, in-class computer programs, teacher supplies and more.
4) It's a drop-by event, but NOT a DROP-OFF event - no one will be locked on campus & forced to stay put from 5-7pm... we all have busy schedules, but would love the kids to participate any way they can. Students ARE required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is a volunteer-run event & we do not have the manpower to oversee the children AND run the event.
5) PIZZA will be available for purchase - for busy families hopping from one event to the next, pizza will be available for purchase, so everyone can grab dinner in between practices, tutoring & running! $3.00 a slice, cash only!
